Qomply’s event brings together Tom Soden, Manager of the FCA’s Markets Reporting Team, and Michelle Zak, Co-Founder of Qomply, for an industry discussion on Insights into the Data Quality issues that still challenge firms 5-years from the launch of MiFID II.
On 11th May 2023, Michelle Zak, from Qomply, hosts Tom Soden from the FCA’s Markets Reporting Team at Qomply’s Breakfast Roundtable in the stunning Members’ Room at the beautiful grade-II listed One Moorgate Place.
Tom manages the Markets Reporting Team (MRT) at the FCA . This is the team that is responsible for monitoring the completeness and accuracy of transaction reports and for setting RTS22 and RTS23 policy requirements. Previous to joining the FCA, Tom also worked at the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). This combination of experience provides Tom with unique insights into the operations of both regulators.
Tom will provide expertise on common transaction reporting topics such as reconciliation, data quality, and the role that high-quality transaction reports play in effectively conducting market surveillance and preventing systemic risk.
As many MiFID reportable firms recognise, the FCA has recently announced the rejection of transaction reports older than 5-years from the trade date. Tom will clarify what this means for firms, the importance of conducting regular Reconciliation and expectation that firms submit Errors and Omissions in a timely fashion. Many firms still struggle with understanding when an Errors and Omissions form is expected and the regularity in which they should be conducting reconciliations.
Michelle will not only moderate the session but also add context to transaction reporting pain points. She will share her insights gained from overseeing a technology company that checks the accuracy of billions of transactions a year.
The talk provides a unique opportunity to get your questions answered. Audience participants are invited to stay after the event to network with their peers and share insights.
This exclusive Chatham House roundtable will bring together industry practitioners from across the financial services sector and promises to be an interactive and engaging session.
